Why a Norfolk Wedding is a Load of Rubbish!

How exciting – you are planning a Norfolk wedding! Whether you’re tying the knot in 2022, 2023 or beyond there’s no denying it’s a very special time – a romantic kaleidoscope of colours, textures, tunes and choices!

Planning a Norfolk wedding is a big deal – particularly if you’re planning a private marquee wedding or heading for a blank canvas dry-hire venue!  Your options are seemingly limitless! Just where to begin!

From fire pits to flowers, tunes to table favours, drinks to dancing it’s a big list!  But chances are there’s one thing you’ve overlooked: rubbish!

“Nine times out of ten couples forget to consider the waste that a wedding creates,” explained Expresso Catering’s Roland Schreiber.

“Take bottles and cans for example. In the run up to a Norfolk wedding there’s a huge amount of enthusiasm for filling the fridges with drink but rarely is serious consideration given to handling the empties.  If you’re supplying your own drinks then you’re generally expected to remove the empties from site too – a detail which is often overlooked.

“While wedding caterers will be prepared to take away their own waste, they certainly won’t be willing to dispose of other rubbish, that’s firmly down to you!”

OPT FOR A GREENER NORFOLK WEDDING

Roland said that many Norfolk wedding couples were very aware of their environmental footprint and with a little planning could minimise general waste on their wedding day by providing large bins for recycling and general waste.

“We always advise couples to consider waste disposal because the last thing anyone wants to face the morning after is a huge pile of mixed, unbagged rubbish,” he added.

“In the run up to the big day preparations can involve a huge cast of family, friends and suppliers – all of whom probably come laden and leave empty handed.

“The day after it’s often down to a much smaller team (typically mum and dad) – to empty the marquee/venue of everything that’s arrived in the last few days.  From flowers to flipflops, bar furniture to bunting – it’s not a job to be underestimated.”

So, if you’re planning a wedding in a dry-hire venue, marquee, tepee or at your home then please spare a little thought for the rubbish!
