- 1. Booking a 2025 Norfolk wedding last minute only to discover registrars and caterers are all fully booked! If it has to be this year then avoid Saturdays in peak season (April – October).
- 2. Selecting suppliers purely on price. Opting for low-cost suppliers over experienced operators with an established track record could see you left in the lurch – we’re getting lots of enquiries from couples who have been let down by their Norfolk wedding caterers for 2025. Remember if it seems too good to be true it probably is!
- 3. Booking informal street food trucks and expecting stylish service. Time-limited ‘late-night street corner’ style service is what you will get. If you want beautifully laid tables and attentive, intuitive service throughout the day then you need a ‘proper’ Norfolk wedding caterer!
- 4. DIY catering! Experienced caterers make it look easy, but that’s down to lots of planning and preparation. As a matter of course many Norfolk wedding venues insist on couples using professional caterers with five star ratings and plenty of insurance. Even if that’s not the case don’t underestimate the amount of work that’s involved in DIY catering. Food has to be ordered, collected, transported, refrigerated, prepared, cooked, served and cleared away – on time. The kitchen has to be left spotless and rubbish taken away. All by friends and family. It might seem like a good idea but, trust us, on the day it will be a real pain.
- 5. Opting for a marquee without seriously considering the infrastructure
Think power (yes, you absolutely will need a generator)
Running water (a leaking hosepipe is not ideal)
All-weather vehicular access and parking for suppliers and guests
Waste disposal (there will be far rubbish than you think)
Overnight security to keep an eye on all that expensive equipment and booze
Listen To The Experts
“Of course planning a wedding is super exciting for couples and it’s completely understandable that some elements of the preparations are less fun than others,” said Expresso Director Roland Schreiber.
“However, things can unravel when details are overlooked. No-one wants hiccups on the day so it really does pay to listen to the advice of your suppliers and to take their requests seriously. Delegate if necessary but please don’t wing it.”
