As Norwich’s Dragon Festival roars into life this week, it’s the perfect time to shine the spotlight on Dragon Hall www.dragonhall.org  – one of the city’s finest buildings and a popular venue for weddings, festivals, fairs and parties.

A grade one listed medieval trading hall dating from around 1430, Dragon Hall is renowned for its spectacular roof and intricately carved and painted dragon.  In its heyday Dragon Hall was at the heart of an international trading empire, filled with goods such as wool, cloth, timber spices and pottery.

And now, fully restored and renovated, Dragon Hall is arguably the city’s most popular historic  venue – especially in demand for weddings.

MAKING MEMORIES AT DRAGON HALL

As one of Dragon Hall’s approved caterers, here at Expresso (aptly-based just a sword’s throw away in St Georges Street), we’ve been privileged to be involved in some very special occasions at the King Street venue.

“Dragon Hall really is stunning – offering character and intimacy, alongside flexibility and modern facilities.  While the great hall is a magnificent setting for a wedding feast and the gallery works well for drinks and music, the walled garden is perfect for photos, games, dancing and even informal dining,” explained Expresso’s Roland Schreiber.

“Parties have exclusive use of the venue and because Dragon Hall is in the heart of the city, guests don’t have the transport issues often associated with more remote locations,” he added.

“From a catering perspective, Dragon Hall offers lots of options, although I have to say we find that our signature table feasts work extremely well, offering guests all the variety of a buffet along with the conviviality of a dinner party.”

As well as dozens of weddings, Expresso has catered for family parties, corporate dinners, meetings and canapé parties at Dragon Hall – in addition to providing a pop up café at the annual medieval Christmas Market.

2014 also sees Expresso’s return to the hugely popular Dragon Hall Beer Festival (25-27 April), when we’ll be serving a mouth-watering menu, specially devised to accompany the outstanding beverages that will be on offer.

So, see you at Dragon Hall soon!
