Engaged? Congratulations! Welcome to the mad, mad world of Norfolk wedding planning.
Now take a deep breath and prepare for a frenzy of shopping, list making, discussing, deciding, making, visiting, hugging and kissing.
Planning a wedding in Norfolk is exciting – stunning venues, beautiful churches, top notch suppliers and good weather! And with one of the region’s largest wedding fairs taking place this weekend, it’s a great place for couples to start their wedding planning.
But before you get carried away with wedding planning do please consider your budget. It’s amazing how many couples seem to get carried away on non-essential extras, instead of focusing on the main elements (i.e. food and drink).
QUALITY NOT QUANTITY
A hundred seems to one of those magic numbers when it comes to wedding guest lists – after all who doesn’t want a good turn out for their big day? But if you’re on a budget then it’s worth contemplating quality rather than quantity – particularly when it comes to catering.
After all, when you consider the amount of trouble and expense you expect your guests to go to (hotels, taxis, new outfits, gifts etc) then surely you want to treat them accordingly?
The wedding industry does a fine job of bombarding couples with ‘must haves’ – and before you know it a budget that seemed entirely reasonable is suddenly being stretched to the limit.
And that often leaves venues and caterers being expected to double up as magicians!
OVERSPENDING ISN’T OBLIGATORY!
When it comes to wedding planning if you really aren’t willing to compromise on a swanky venue then it’s worth considering pruning your guest list in order to be able to afford to provide the wedding feast of your dreams.
Then, bump up the numbers in the evening – when a light supper or snack will do the trick nicely.
Just because your wedding venue has the capacity to seat 120 doesn’t mean you have to invite 120 people to the ceremony!
Alternatively, opt for a less expensive venue and put the cash you’ve saved into your food and drink budget.
Be remembered as a generous host – no-one wants to see your guests queuing up for a takeaway on the way home!
Without a doubt Norfolk has some incredible wedding venues, but these do come at a price – and that’s before you’ve as much as opened a bottle.
Don’t worry if you don’t have thousands to splash on a swanky venue, Norfolk has plenty of options!
