Dunblane will once again hit the headlines this month when tennis star Andy Murray marries fiancé Kim Sears.  And having reportedly chosen Dunblane Cathedral for their ceremony, the couple will celebrate at the Wimbledon champion’s own luxury hotel.

With wedding catering overseen by Michel Roux, Cromlix Hotel is, without a doubt, an elegant and impressive destination.

However, if you’re looking for something closer to home then the sooner you get started the better! It’s not unheard of for popular venues get booked anything up to two years advance so you’ll need to keep an open mind.

If you’re passionate about food then your wedding catering arrangements will definitely shape your decision making.  In fact very few Norwich wedding venues allow you to organise your own wedding catering  - fine if you’re happy with what’s on offer but a definite turn off if not!

So if you prefer to appoint your own caterers to take care of your wedding catering then what are the options in Norwich? In a word, limited – especially if you were hoping to marry and celebrate all in one place!

The solution for most is a traditional two-part wedding, with the ceremony and reception in separate venues.

At home – or in a marquee – is an obvious choice where there’s plenty of space.  If not, then wedding reception venues to take a look at in the city include Norwich Arts Centre, sports and social clubs, community centres and village/church halls – many of which have some kitchen facilities, parking and can be very reasonably priced.

Needless to say the further out from Norwich you go the wider you choice becomes – for instance we’ve seen humble farm buildings transformed into stunning party venues!

If all this seems like a lot of leg work then perhaps you’d be better off with an all-in package – but if you are truly committed to creating something extra special and individual – without spending a ridiculous amount of money – then all you have to do is think outside the box a little!

As for the wedding catering, well you’d be amazed what can be cooked up in a ‘field kitchen’!  Here at Expresso when it comes to wedding catering we’re used to working in challenging environments and genuinely enjoy the satisfaction of ‘making it happen’ on the day!

For us the first step is to sit down with you – to get to know you a little and get a sense of what it is you’re looking for.  We start with a blank sheet of paper – discussing ideas and options, working together to come up with wedding catering that hits the spot.  For us it’s all about impressive yet unpretentious, stress-free entertaining – for you it’s about great food, good company and the party of a lifetime!

Still tempted by the likes of Cromlix Hotel? Exclusive hire between April and October is £8,500 per night.  And while this includes B&B for 30, there’s a minimum two night hire between April and September.  Menus start at £35 a head.  And if you’re inviting more than 66 guests then you’ll need to add on the cost of a marquee…time for a lie down?
