Weddings, like life, don’t always go according to plan so it’s sensible to consider the unexpected when planning your big day!

Realistically there will always be a few variables you can’t control – such as the weather, for instance.  Too hot, too cold, too windy, too wet, too snowy, too changeable….all you can do is hope for the best, have plans in place to cope and to be flexible!

When it comes to wedding planning most couples are operating in unfamiliar territory, so our advice would be to take advice!  Your Norfolk wedding day suppliers (caterers, photographer, florist etc) will be operating in very familiar territory so it pays to draw upon their considerable expertise.

Here at Expresso our event team has decades of experience in managing high profile events – not least Norfolk weddings – and we’re always happy to offer advice if requested!

If you plan on celebrating at an established venue then the team there should also be on top of their game when it comes to weddings.  However, let’s say that some Norfolk wedding venues have a more laid back attitude than others, so it pays to work with experienced suppliers who you can count on to work their magic and help to bring everything together on the day.

If, however, you opt for a marquee wedding or a celebration in an unconventional venue then it’s vital you line up a ‘go-to guy’.  In the run up to the wedding Mr Fix It might be Dad – or even the groom – but bear in mind you’ll need a stand in for the big day itself.

He’s the fellow who knows exactly what to do when the electrics trip when the band plugs in their amp.  He’s the chap who can help pull vehicles out of muddy fields, the ‘man who can’ when it comes to preventing sabotage from rain and snow, the saviour with the spanner, your knight in shining armour!

The last thing anyone wants to do is to haul the a member of the wedding party out of the celebrations to deal with a problem – far better to nominate a ‘go-to guy’ (or girl) who can be on standby in case of need.

As Norfolk wedding and event caterers we do our utmost to be prepared for all eventualities, but when we’re in the thick of it, it’s massively helpful to know where to turn if things start to unravel.  More often than not it’s a power issue – one minute everything is working fine then the gremlins get going and the ovens stop working (soufflés in fields, never a good idea!)

We’ve been fortunate enough to work with some great ‘go-to’ guys and gals at Norfolk weddings – people we’ve been able to count on when it really mattered, folks who have really been worth their weight in gold!

And we say thank you!
